December 2013 marked a milestone in Invenergy’s history that solidified a long-standing truth: our ability to deliver is powered by our people.
In a single quarter, teams across the company successfully executed eight major project financings and transactions, representing more than $1 billion in activity across North America and Europe.
Invenergy had already spent a decade building expertise, refining processes and developing a culture focused on execution. By 2013, the company had proven it could successfully manage large, complex transactions – what made that December different was the sheer volume.
Multiple financings, refinancings, equity fundings, and project milestones all converged at year-end, requiring extraordinary coordination across finance, asset management, project management, legal, treasury, accounting, insurance, and many other teams. With holiday schedules approaching and critical deadlines looming, employees across the company worked together to keep every detail moving forward.
Andrea Hoffman, EVP of Global Risk, recalls that there were no plans to celebrate the achievement—as everyone was focused on executing their closings—until CEO Jim Murphy (then President) invited the team into his office to recognize what they accomplished. "It was really only at that point that the project financing list was written on the whiteboard...and we collectively recognized the accomplishment: about $1 billion in financial closings."
Twelve years later, the projects have changed, and the company has grown, but the formula remains the same: talented people, deep expertise, and a commitment to getting the job done.
It's a legacy of execution that’s driven Invenergy since the beginning, and will continue to do so for the next 25 years and beyond.
