As the company rapidly built its operating expertise, Founder Michael Polsky and then-COO Alex George began discussing expanding Invenergy Services to third-party facilities. The ultimate question was: who would build and lead the business?
Then Director of Wind Operations Support Brad Purtell stepped forward. Brad had given over one hundred tours of the Invenergy Control Center in 2017 to customers, public officials, and partners; he was already selling Invenergy's operating capabilities daily and knew it could translate into an actionable business plan. He drafted the job description for a Director of Third-Party Services Business Development, then stepped into the role himself.
The foundation was an "owner’s mindset": offering customers the same model proven across Invenergy’s fleet, while increasing standardization and buying power for parts and services.
In 2019, Third-Party Services established the Field Service Major Corrective team, followed by the Field Services Blade Team in 2021. Starting with a few highly experienced managers and technicians, the teams have grown to include directors, managers, and over 75 technicians who conduct major corrective work and high-level blade repairs. To this day, their efforts are instrumental in providing partners with fast, adaptable onsite services, lowering operational risk, and continuously improving operating standards across our customers' fleets and our own.
Throughout its history, Invenergy has prided itself on bringing innovative ideas across the business to life, resulting in major expansions and expanded capabilities that support responsible, reliable energy development and operations. The story of Invenergy Services' third-party expansion is no exception.
